Andy Denyer

Debut while a junior at the club, left briefly in 2002/03 to play league cricket at Stamfordham. Returned midway through 2003, as a spin bowler rather than as a wicket keeper and took first five wicket haul in the last 2XI game of 2003 season. Kept wicket during 2004 for the 1XI.

Took his first wickets for the 1XI in the Foster's Cup Final win against Ashington and followed it up with 5 wickets in the league cup final.

In the 2006 Fosters Cup Semi Final defeat Andy took a hat trick with the last 3 balls of the innings before finally taking his first league wicket in the last game of the 2006 season at Tynedale. Became the second player for the club in modern history to take two hat-tricks with one in the 2XI against Ryton on 3rd July 2010 and was the 5th player to score 500 runs and take 50 wickets in the Sunday side. Finished the 2010 season top of the 2XI League bowling averages.

Against Percy Main in 2011 broke the Midweek team record for catches in an innings with 4, his 3 caught & bowled is also a record. Took 6 for 21 in the Ian Appleby cup final win against Tynemouth in July 2011.

In the second game of the 2012 season Andy took 6 for 3 against Benwell & Walbottle, the cheapest five wicket haul ever for the 2XI (until Charlie Lattimore broke it in 2021). Also became the first player to take five wickets in a match for the Eagles with 5-14 against F.H.C.C.

Injured early in 2013, Andy returned to action with a spell of 13 overs taking 6 for 9 against Annfield Plain to give him his second 6 wicket return for the 2XI where he conceded less then 10 runs.

Became the 6th player to take 200 wickets for the 2XI in the opening game of the 2018 season then in the second game of the 2022 season was just the 5th to reach 300 as he took 5-26 against Percy Main, a match he also finished batting with an unbeaten 49 after going in at number 3. His busy start to the 2022 season continued in game 3 taking part in his third century stand, again at number 3 with 35*. Made it 10 wickets in the season against Percy Main by taking 5-3 in the return fixture.

Took his 40th wicket of the 2022 season in August against Backworth, just the second player to reach that mark since over limits were introduced in 2000

After 654 games for the club Andy led a team for the first time in the 3XI cup match against Percy Main in 2023. Recorded his 350th 2XI wicket with the last in his 4-38 against Clara Vale 1XI, only the third player to reach this mark after Geoff Appleby (350) and John Gardner (on 427 when he reached 350)
