Robert joined the Club in 2005 while studying at Newcastle University, although his appearances were limited due to his representative cricket commitments, often travelling back to Ireland for weekend games.

Was a Member of Ireland's U-19 World Cup squad in 2004 for the tournament held in Bangladesh. Played in four matches, scoring 39* & taking 2-14 v Canada, 17 v Bangladesh, 16 v Papua New Guinea and 5 v Pakistan.

His brother Boyd was one of Ireland's stars at the 2007 Cricket World Cup and played first class cricket at Warkwickshire and Test cricket for England and Ireland

First player to represent Ponteland who took part in an U19 World Cup (although not at the club at the time)
