Nikhil made his Ponteland debut in the 2XI in the opening game of the 2017 season. Took a hat-trick in the cup match for the 2XI and made his debut for the 1XI all while still an Under 15.

Exams delayed his entry into the 2019 season but opened in style at the end of May with his first 5 wicket return for the club with 11.5 overs only conceding 4 runs the second most economic spell for the 2XI. Two weeks later then recorded the best ever figures in a 2XI 20/20 cup match with 7 for 8 against Newcastle City
