Richard joined the Club from South Northumberland in 2003 after playing some friendlies in 2002, following his brother. Played in the U-18s in 2003, progressing into the 1XI to keep wicket. Moved out of the area through work commitments before the 2007 season, returning in 2010 and scoring his highest score to date for the Second Eleven, 61, in his first game back against Whickham.

Became only the fourth player in 1XI history to take 4 outfield catches in a match against Seaton Burn, equalling Paul Higginbottom's record for the 1XI in the NTSL league set two weeks earlier.
