Started scoring as a junior in 1988 and from 1989-1992 scored for the 1XI. In 2001 he was the Northumberland League B2 leading wicket taker with 33 wickets and has twice won the Bowyer Trophy for 2XI performance of the season - once despite being the regular number 11 for his batting!

Captained the friendly side from 1999-2001 and again since 2005 and has played for and captained the side more than anyone else, becoming one of only 5 players to captain the same side 100 times for the club in 2010.

Became the first Ponteland player to record three run outs in a single game against Backworth in a midweek game, two in the final over to tie the game.

During 2005 he researched and rewrote the 1980 Club History to bring it up to date and was awarded the Jameson Trophy. Also created the Club Website in 1999.

Against Chatton in 2011 became the first player to score 1,000 runs and take 100 wickets in the Sunday side when scoring an unbeaten 52. With skipper Craig Moffat injured and unavailable for the majority of the season Captained the Eagles to the NEMWL Division IV title.

In the 2016 fixture at Chatton overtook Tommy Oliver as the leading wicket-taker for the Sunday side and became the first person to captain 200 different players for Ponteland in the home game against Genetics. Appointed Sunday team captain for the third time for the start of the 2017 season.

Retired from playing due to injury at the end of the 2019 season, remaining with the club in various admin roles.
