Club Welfare Officer – Ponteland Cricket Club
General Requirements
- to be first point of contact for anyone who has concern about poor practice or abuse by adults working with children
- needs to be perceived as being approachable
- doesn’t need to be an expert
- needs to be supported by the Club Management Committee who will adopt Child Protection Policy, produce an implementation plan and review the system
Core Knowledge
- as outlined in ECB training courses entitled “Good Practice and Child Protection” and “Time to Listen”
Core Skills
- basic admin. and record keeping
- confidential system for managing records regarding abuse
- safe storage of records relating to volunteers (e.g. self declaration forms)
- child focussed approach
- communication skills to all involved in Club including coaches parents and volunteers
- confidence in contacting police and social services
- ability to promote the Club’s policy procedures and resources
Main Core Tasks
- maintain links between Club and County Welfare Officer
- assist the Club to implement child protection plan
- be first point of contact for anyone who has concern about poor practice or abuse by adults working with children
- maintain contact details for local police and social services and ensure they are publicised within the Club
- ensure confidentiality is maintained
